Honestly, no one—including myself—expected tha Honestly, no one—including myself—expected that I would grow up and enthusiastically talk about birth. 😂

Yet here we are.

The reason is simple: when I experienced God’s design for pregnancy and birth, I wanted every mama to know how good it could be.

I talk about birth because I want the woman who feels overwhelmed by an unexpected pregnancy or paralyzed by fear surrounding childbirth to encounter hope and transformation through Him. My prayer is that when she holds her newborn baby for the first time, she is so overwhelmed by joy and God’s faithfulness that she can say, “Wow! Let’s do that again!”

I want her story to no longer be defined by fear, shame, or the burdens she’s carried, but by the faithful hand of God walking with her every step of the way. I want her to encounter Him as a loving Father who gives good gifts and discover for herself that both He and birth are good.

If that’s the kind of encouragement you’re looking for, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here. ✨

Father, at week 15, I can confidently declare that Father, at week 15, I can confidently declare that I have tasted and seen that You are good! Your creation is good, and this precious baby is a beautiful reflection of Your goodness.

I choose to take refuge in You during the uncertainty of this pregnancy and labor. Under Your shadow, I rest and am safe.

Continue to perfect baby’s taste buds, helping them develop the ability to taste, discern, and choose what’s good. Provide a strong sense of smell so they can detect danger and enjoy pleasant scents.

I declare that from early on, the baby will taste and see Your goodness and be blessed as he/she takes refuge in You. Lord, like a newborn infant, may he/she long for pure spiritual milk, and through it grow strong and mature in salvation.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen. 🙏

Let me know in the comments if you are 15 weeks pregnant so we can pray with you! If you want to pray along with me, be on the lookout for my upcoming 42-week +6 weeks postpartum guided prayer journal for pregnancy with special prayers based on your baby’s development in the womb.

Birth is nothing like the media portrays where the Birth is nothing like the media portrays where the woman’s water breaks unexpectedly then frantically rushes to a hospital and suffers in ruthless agony without any relief of a break in between contractions.

Birth can actually be peaceful, joyful, restful, transformative and an empowering experience. Especially if you get to experience God’s design of it including the hormone roller coaster of ride of a lifetime!

Here is what helped me the most in labor:
✨surrounding myself with others that make me feel safe, supported, and loved
✨dimming the lights
✨playing soft worship music to get my heart on the Lord
✨movement - being able to to move my body to what felt good
✨ my husband making me laugh and his reassuring touch
✨being able to ask for help from hip squeezes to making phone calls
✨welcoming contractions instead of fighting them
✨relaxing my jaw, shoulders, and face
✨allowing myself to make low groans and from my belly and not high pitched
✨sipping water regularly
✨snacking to help keep up energy
✨partnering with the Holy Spirit and relying on His strength

To the first time mom, I hope this brings some peace and hope to your heart today of a new perspective of birth according to God’s design 🫶

The biggest lie the enemy wants women to believe i The biggest lie the enemy wants women to believe is that childbirth is fundamentally destructive. Satan wants women to perceive birth with dread viewing birth as breaking down our body, ruining our health, and stripping away our identity.

Why? Because he can’t stand image bearers of God and is threatened when a mother knows who she is in Christ.

Truth is God’s design for birth is entirely fruitful and life-giving.

Science reveals that a baby’s cells literally cross the placenta to heal the mother’s organs 😯 -known as fetal-maternal microchimerism. Plus, neurological rewiring takes place during pregnancy and childbirth enhancing empathy, sharpening vigilance, and priming mama to respond effectively to her child’s cues. Talk about one amazing life-altering change!

Birth is not breaking down. It is building up 💪
